The Cadetship Program

The cadetship is a five year program where you will undertake a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Electrical) specialising in ‘power engineering’ (four years), and also work at EnergyAustralia for at least 80 weeks. This working period will allow you to practically demonstrate what you’ve already learnt. You will also have the opportunity to develop your teamwork, leadership and communication skills.

Your 80 weeks of working will be divided into specific working periods where you will work for about 13 weeks in each of your first three years at uni. You will then work full time for one year during your deferred fourth year. In this period, you’ll be given a choice of various roles to rotate within. Following on from this, you will return to uni in your fifth year where you’ll undertake an industry based thesis project.

From day one you will be part of a team and you will have real responsibilities.

After you have completed your cadetship and uni degree, you will be eligible to apply for the electrical engineering graduate program and on completion of the program you can work as a professional engineer earning around $90,000.
